Yemen Cultural Workshop Stresses High Status of Women in Quran

IQNA – Speakers at a cultural workshop in Yemen discussed the status of women in the Holy Quran.

Workshop in Yemen’s Dhamar Governorate discusses status of women in Quran

 

The two-day workshop was held in Dhamar Governorate by the governorate’s women cultural department, Saba.net website reported. 

Sheikh Ismail al-Washli, a senior Yemen scholar, said at the event that the Quran and the Islamic culture introduce as role models great ladies like Hazrat Zahra (SA), Hazrat Khadija (SA), Hazrat Maryam (SA) and Hazrat Zeynab (SA).

He stressed that the Islamic Ummah needs no Western models.

Yassir al-Amidi was another scholar who noted that that the Quran dignifies women.  

Al-Amidi, who is a chief judiciary official in the governorate, also elaborated on women’s rights in Islam and the need to rectify wrong Western concepts about the rights of women.

Other speakers talked about women’s rights and status in international laws and conventions as well as Yemen’s constitution and laws.

The workshop, which concluded Sunday, offered recommendations on raising awareness among women and elevating their religious identity in order to protect them in the soft war waged by the enemies of Islam.
